When President Macron came to power in France in 2017, his election blew a wind of change in the domestic political landscape. His willingness to reform the country was however challenged a year ago when the Yellow Vests crisis erupted, revealing a deep social and territorial divide in the country. To comment on this issue, two of France’s leading columnists and political commentators, Nicolas Baverez , economist and lawyer, and Olivier Duhamel , president of Sciences Po and member of the independent public policy think-tank Institut Montaigne’s Board of Directors, will share their understanding of the current and future trends in French politics.
