LearnArtory offers lectures combining language training with a focus on History.
This second lecture will focus on the establishment of a ‘foreign’ house to rule over the British people in the first half of the 18th century. The history of the House of Hanover in Britain is of course linked to the expansion of the British Empire, which will dominate Britain’s foreign policy, culminating with the coronation of Queen Victoria as Empress of India.
The following reigns will see the gradual diminishing of royal power over British affairs; this will lead to a discussion over the present role of the monarchy in today’s Britain.
What you will improve in :
- Language: reporting verbs.
- Culture: the royal line of succession to the British throne; houses of Hanover to Windsor.
