You will hear from speakers across the industry - designers, developers, practitioners and educators. The event will showcase best practice examples of adopting BIM by small and medium practices, as well as examples of frustrations or challenges with its implementation. The presentations will be followed by an interactive session to resolve some of the issues raised in real time and an opportunity, during drinks and networking, to trial some of the products and solutions available, including navigating a BIM model using an Apple Vision Pro.

This event is designed for small and medium sized built environment businesses, and practitioners and students, who are keen to embrace BIM; but are grappling with how best to apply it in practice.

What is Embracing BIM?

Despite its advantages, the adoption of BIM in the UK has been patchy, despite growing requirements for its use from regulators, investors and clients. For small and medium practices in particular, the myriad of solutions can seem overwhelming, and aligning project partners an uphill struggle. For practitioners, the experience is often one of learning on the job, with little guidance through the opportunities and pitfalls of different models.

Confirmed speakers include:

Tara and Lanre Gbolade - Gbolade Design Studios
Jaime Ingram - airc.digital - BIM and OpenBIM experts and digital design specialists
Carlos Cordeiro - Nemetschek SE
Victoria Farrow - Associate Professor, The Leicester School of Architecture
Olivier Boennec - Technical Director at Civic Engineering

This event is brought to you by the following organisations:

airc.digital - BIM and OpenBIM experts
Build Studios - a charity working to engage young people in built environment careers
Build Workspace - Build Studios’ co-working space for small and start-up built environment practices
Nemetschek – providers of intelligent software solutions for the entire AEC/O lifecycle
and kindly sponsored by Nemetschek - promoters of OpenBIM and industry collaboration.

Have you embraced BIM as a small or medium practice?

Do you get the benefits of BIM, but are struggling to bring your staff and partners along with you?
Do you need BIM for your job, but have never really been taught what it is or how to use it properly?
Do you just see BIM as 3D modelling?

What is BIM and why is it important?

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital process that enhances collaboration in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries by integrating 3D models with rich data, enabling smarter planning, design, construction, and management. It improves teamwork by providing a shared digital model, enhances decision-making with embedded materials, costs, and sustainability factors, saves time and money by identifying design clashes early, and ensures compliance with industry regulations as more clients and investors require BIM for future-proofing projects.
