CABU, THE SPECTACULAR SPECTATOR / Opening of the exhibition

Drawings Exhibition

Illustrating the theatre column for Le Figaro between 1969 and 1971, and regularly commenting on theatre news in Hara-Kiri and Charlie Hebdo, French caricaturist Cabu was a passionate theatre lover, who could often be found at the Comédie-Française, whipping out his pen at any occasion to portray the actors of this venerable house. These drawings offer a rare occasion to (re)discover the actors of the Comédie-Française as well as its repertory through the critical and demanding eye of one of France’s most influential illustrators.

Introduced by Eric Ruf, Administrateur Général de la Comédie-Française and Jean-François Pitet, Curator of the exhibition
